The Siemens SGT5-2000/4000 series engines are large, heavy-duty, single-shaft, 50-Hz gas turbine machines with a simple-cycle power output in the 164-268 MW range.
The current application is electrical power generation, including combined-cycle and cogeneration installations.
The SGT5-2000/3000/4000 series of gas turbine machines (formerly the V94.2/V94.2A/V94.3A) was privately developed by the prime contractor.
In production.
According to information released by Siemens in mid-2017, a total of more than 280 SGT5-2000 gas turbines, 180 SGT5-3000 gas turbines and 380 SGT5-4000 gas turbines had been delivered, excluding older V94 turbines. By 2019, deliveries included 300 SGT5-2000 units, although the number of SGT5-3000 and SGT5-4000 deliveries apparently has not changed. The numbers for the SGT5-2000 and SGT5-4000 had not changed by March 2020, but the SGT5-3000 was no longer included in company documentation.
The Siemens SGT5-2000/3000/4000 series faces its most serious competition from the Alstom (now General Electric) GT26, the General Electric MS9001 (Model 9000/Frame 9), and the Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) Model 501/701 series.
1) Siemens undertaking massive reorganization; 2) SGT5-3000 now deleted from company data; 3) Power and gas activities being floated off to separate companies; and 4) Investment priorities and new product development policies being reassessed.
